A latin percussionist, drumset artist, and award-winning producer based in Chicago, Ruben performs and records in a variety of musical situations. He has worked on movie soundtracks and jingles, and has appeared with Latin jazz flautist Dave Valentine, blues and rock legends Junior Wells, John Mayall, and Dave Mason. Other include R and B diva, Anita Baker, Jazz artist Particia Barber, the Chicago Sinfonietta, the Seattle Philharmonic, and numerous appearances as sideman and leader at the Chicago Jazz Festival.

As an educator, Ruben conducts master classes, workshops, and musical performances for more the 5,000 students and Educator annually. He is a member of the Ravinia Festival Jazz in the schools mentors program, the International Association of Jazz Educator educational resource team, Zildjian's educational advisory board, and is on the faculty of Northwestern and Roosevelt Universities.
