David Derge is one of the best and most versatile drummers playing today. He's performed and recorded with many artists encompassing an impressive variety of musical styles, including the sophisticated contemporary jazz of David Benoit, The Rippingtons, and the innovative new group Shapes, the iconoclastic folk/rock of Richard Thompson and Shawn Colvin, the neo-swing of The Brian Setzer Orchestra, the Salsa and Latin Jazz of Orquesta Yambo and Clare Fischer, the Brazilian music of Feijoada Completa, the hard-hitting funk of The Boneshakers, the envelope-pushing arrangements of the Bill Fulton Band featuring Ernie Watts, the rootsy Americana of Preston Smith, and the smooth jazz of keyboard whiz Scott Wilkie. Over the course of his career, he's accompanied such diverse and legendary artists as Cannonball Adderley, Jose Feliciano, Larry Carlton, Mark Murphy and Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson. He has also co-led two critically acclaimed original groups, Dark Horses and Game Theory. Whatever the style or challenge, David always brings to it experience, conviction, energy, solid time and chops.
