Fern Ford studied at Higher National Diploma level at the Academy of Contemporary Music (ACM) in London, and then went on to study a degree in Contemporary Music Performance. In her first year of degree, Fern successfully auditioned for the position as drummer for Kate Nash on an upcoming tour. With the tour being a huge success, Fern was then hired as a full-time drummer and has since been working on Kate Nash’s third album, to be recorded in Los Angeles in the Spring of 2012 with producer Tom Biller. Summer Festivals are set to follow with touring into 2013 in support of the new album, which is expected to be released in the fall 2012.
Fern said, “The first set of cymbals I bought were a Zildjian ZHT boxset. I'd saved up all my pocket money for almost a year and a half before being able to afford them. That was seven years ago and I still have, and love those cymbals. After deciding to upgrade my cymbals, I'd tried out most of the other brands, Paiste, Sabian and Bosphorus, but none of those cymbals provided the sound I was after. Personally, I find Zildjian to be the most reliable and best sounding cymbals out there. Whether I'm looking for a bright, dark or dry sound, I know I'll find it with Zildjian”.
Her Cymbal Set-Up is:
14” A Zildjian New Beat HiHats
17” A Zildjian Medium Thin Crash
21” A Zildjian Armand Ride
18” A Zildjian Armand Medium Thin Crash
