Mauricio Alves Fernandez, aka Boka, started playing Drums when he was only 16 in bands of friends. Most of these bands played punk or hardcore and that has been his influence since then. In 1988, je was invited to join a very well respected band in underground scene, Psychic Possessor. He recorded an album an went on tour with this band for sometime, then in 1991 he joined Ratos de Porão, the most famous and respected hardcore band in Brazil.
Since then he has been playing and touring with the band in several cities and venues, and also recording álbuns distributed worldwide. His passion and hardcore lifestyle always drove Boka to breath and live music, so in 2003 he joined the group “I Shot Cyrus” which toured in Europe in 2003 and 2005 with over 60 presentations and several presentation in Brazil. He also recorded many albums with the band which were distributed in the US, in Japan and in Europe. Unfortunately, the band went down in 2009 with a legendary last live performance during 17th Hardcore Festival in São Paulo to over 1000 people.
Another significant point in his career was the invitation to tour with the band Vitamin X, from Netherlands. They toured through Japan, Australia and many other Asian countries in 2005, with over 30 presentations. Then, in 2006 they toured in Brazil. Boka has the incredible mark of over 2000 live presentations as a drummer and created the independent label and distributor Pecúlio Discos in 1997 having released 40 bands in Brazil so far. Still active, the label is one of the oldest labels in indie and underground scene in Latin America, also distributing LPs and CDs from local and international bands. In 2009, Boka started playing with the band Safari Hamburgers (great local band with 2 albuns released under the label Cogumelo).
