Raymond Froehlich joined the SFS as a percussionist in 1991. A graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory, he was previously a member of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra and a timpanist with the Berkeley Symphony. Mr. Froehlich has often been featured in San Francisco Symphony's summer festivals in works by twentieth-century composers. He has also played with the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood and in 1998 was percussion soloist in the celebrated Salzburg Festival production of Messiaen's opera, Saint Frannois d'Assise, conducted by Kent Nagano. Mr. Froehlich also performs with several jazz ensembles in the Bay Area.
