Artist Biography

Everything you need to know in one spot.

  • Band/Affiliation: Huey Lewis & The News
  • Birthday: November 13
  • Country: United States

William Scott Gibson was born November 13, 1951 in Sacramento, California. He comes from a musical family (his father was a musician), and friends describe him as 'easy-going'. Alike other drummers, he gets less attention than some band members off-stage, but at a Huey Lewis and the News concert, he is an integral member of the band, putting down the solid rhythmic foundation that makes up their distinctive sound. As a Marin County drummer, his first band was the 70's group Soundhole (along with fellow members Johnny Colla and Mario Cipollina). After Soundhole dissolved he became a member of Huey's 'Monday Night Live' spot at Charlie's Bar.

Outside the band, as well as playing drums, he also plays guitar, piano and bass, and his musical influences are rhythm and blues, rock and jazz. He also enjoys golf, as do most of the Newsmen! He has two precious daughters and lives in Mill Valley, California.
