Chicago native Dani Griffin was lucky to take drum classes from Paul Wertico (Pat Metheny) and Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp, Smashing Pumpkins, Melissa Etheridge), among others. He studied classical percussion and jazz at Northwestern University.
Griffin arrived in Spain in 1994, touring Spain and South America with Christina Rosenvinge, Diego Vasallo and Platón. After a prolonged sabbatical from drumming activity to take on a series of writing and production projects, Dani returned to the drumming world in 2005 to record a Latin Grammy-nominated CD for Ariel Rot. A second Latin Grammy nomination came a year later with Ariel Rot's album of duets, where Griffin was able to record with some of Spain's most important rock and pop artists: Amaral, Andrés Calamaro, Bunbury, Sabina, Miguel Rios and Jaime Urrutia. Recent recordings include the latest records from Miguel Rios, M-Clan, Tequila and Sergio Makaroff.
Dani is currently touring through mid-2011 with Spain's #1 touring act, Fito y Fitipaldis, having recently wound up a year and half tour with Tequila.
Apart from his extensive drumming work, Dani has had over 300 of his songs and arrangements published in Europe and South America, including 8 CD's written to teach English to children through music.
Dani says: "Zildjians are simply the best! I've been playing Zildjians my entire life. For me, no other cymbal maker comes close to Zildjian's quality and range of sounds. "
