Danny has also recorded 4 recordings as a leader, and 9 as co-leader of Elements, a contemporary music ensemble, with bassist Mark Egan. He is featured on over 300 recordings to date, including 2 Platinum recordings and 6 Grammy Winners. He has appeared on the covers of Modern Drummer, Downbeat, Drums and Percussion, and Rhythm and Drum Scene magazines.
Danny has a BM degree in jazz performance from the University of Miami, and has been a student of legendary drummer, Joe Morello (of Dave Brubeck fame) for over 30 years. Joe himself was a student of the great snare drummers Billy Gladstone and George Lawrence Stone (author of famed drum book Stick Control.) Danny, as an instructor, continues in the educational tradition of these great masters. Danny also studied with late big band master Mel Lewis, late studio drum great Gary Chester, Bob Moses and Ed Soph.
Danny is currently an artist and residence instructor at the University of South Florida, in Tampa and Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Individually and in conjunction with his wife, master percussion instructor Beth Gottlieb, Danny performers numerous workshops and percussion clinics throughout the world. In addition, Danny still finds time to perform 150 engagements and recording sessions around the world each year. Current projects include many performances worldwide with the Jeff Berlin trio, a ground breaking new group led by the legendary bassist.
