Steve Gryb, "The Pied Piper of Percussion," is an internationally recognized and award-winning multi-percussionist, recording artist, and musicologist with over 25 years experience entertaining audiences of all ages with a wide variety of musical shows. He performs over 150 shows a year!
Steve Gryb has developed a unique "edutainment" approach for his interactive, exciting, and fun percussion show which stresses both entertainment and education. The show, "The Rhythm Is Going to Get You," is in constant demand at major festivals, state fairs, indoor and outdoor concert series, First Night presentations, Day Out with Thomas events, and schools throughout North America.
In addition, Steve has developed an educational hands-on exhibit called a "Percussion Petting Zoo" which features hundreds of diverse percussion instruments from around the world.
As an educator and performer, Steve Gryb has received awards from the Pro-Mark Percussion Corporation, Barry University, Florida International University, the International Association of Jazz Educators, the Sunshine Jazz Organization of South Florida, and the prestigious Arts Educator of the Year award from the Florida Children’s Cultural Coalition. Also, he's the author of a Jazz appreciation DVD, Listening to Jazz, published by Prentice-Hall.
Steve received both his Master of Music degree in Jazz Pedagogy, and his Bachelor of Music degree in Studio Music and Jazz from the University of Miami. "The Music Professor" is a well-deserved nickname for Steve since he has taught courses in Jazz, Blues, Traditional and Contemporary Music at the University of Miami, Florida International University, Barry University, and Miami-Dade Community College.
