If it wasn't for a battle of the bands contest in Agoura Hills, California, we might not have been introduced to Hoobastank. Singer Doug Robb and his band competed against Dan Estrin's band and the two guys admired each other's skills. Doug Robb and Dan Estrin began working together, which led to both guys quitting their groups to form a new band - Hoobastank. Soon Markku Lappalainen (bassist) and Chris Hesse (drummer) joined the band and Hoobastank, as we know it, was born
Hoobastank was signed to Island Records in August of 2000 and released their self titled debut album in 2001. That record went on to sell over a million copies behind the singles Crawling in the Dark and Running Away.
Their second CD, "The Reason", came out in 2003 with the title track being a massive hit for the band. "The Reason" went on to sell over two million copies in the U.S. and saw the band touring the world. In 2004, Hoobastank released a DVD of their video's entitled, "Let It Out".
"Everyman For Himself" is the bands 3rd record and came out in 2006. The album went gold behind the singles, "If I Were You", "Born To Lead", and "Inside Of You".
2009 saw the release of their fourth CD, "For(N)ever". The first single was "My Turn" and was the theme song for the 2009 Destination X PPV for TNA Wrestling. Hoobastank released "So Close, So Far" as the second single from the record.
To date, Chris Hesse and Hoobastank have sold over 5 million albums.
