The Kaiser Chiefs are Nick Hodgson (drums and vocals), Ricky Wilson (lead vocals), Andrew Whitey White (guitar), Simon Rix (bass) and Nick Peanut Baines (keyboards).
They formed in Leeds, England during the summer of 2003 and decided to name themselves after a successful South African football team.
School friends Simon, Peanut and Nick had been playing together in various bands since the age of 15 before spying art school graduate and restless ball of energy, Ricky singing with a Rolling Stones tribute band. Initially Ricky refused their invitation to join the ranks, but eventually he relented. I do not know why, laughs Nick. We did not have any songs at the time.
Fast forward a few years and the Kaiser Chiefs are one of the most exciting bands to emerge from the UK, with an NME Tour, a Live 8 Appearance, slots at Reading/Leeds festival, Top 10 album, Employment, and singles under their belt works is underway on their second album.
