Vinnie, aka "The Pocket Rocket," is the first-call session/freelance drummer residing in South Africa.
He has recorded close to 500 albums of various genres including Pop, Rock, Jazz Fusion, African, Country, Dance and World Music. Vinnie currently runs and records in his own state-of-the-art drum recording facility called "THE DRUMROOM." The Drumroom is South Africa’s top drum recording studio, utilised by clients from around the world including USA, Australia, and Europe.
Vinnie recorded tracks for both the opening and closing ceremony of the FIFA 2010 World Cup, under the musical direction of “Mr. Lion King” himself, Lebo M and S.A. Jazz Legend Themba Mkize.
He has been one of the house drummers of South Africa Idol for the past six seasons under the musical direction of Johan Laas and also played on the recordings for both East and West African Idol, in addition to most Idol winners and runner-ups.
In 2010, Vinnie got the call from Los Angeles to play the 2010 JAI HO World Tour show at Sun City and in Singapore for multi-Grammy and Academy Award winner, Ar Rahman, who composed the music for the hit movies Slumdog Millionare and 127 Hourse, under Musical Direction of legendary L.A. composer/pianist John Beasley.
Multi-talented, he also works in the classical genre, with the Electric Pops Orchestra, Joburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Joburg Festival Orchestra, JMI Orchestra, Eastern Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, Cape Town Philharmonic, and the Freestate Orchestra.
