Matt, who has played drums with numerous Artists including Nerina Pallot, Paloma Faith, Ian Astbury, and Fyfe Dangerfield, has been touring with Laura Marling for just over a year now and has recorded with her on her new album, due out later this year.
2011 has been a particularly successful year for Laura Marling, having won both the BRIT Award for Best British Female Artist and also the NME Award for Best Solo Artist.
Matt is now heading off to South America for some tour dates with Laura in late May 2011, the start of some extensive touring for next 12-18 months in support of the new album.
Matt says "in respect of Zildjian, it’s important for me to feel that I'm part of a community, a history, and a legacy that goes beyond the cymbals. I love the K Zildjian series - to me they are the perfect blend of old and new; the ultimate combination of vintage warmth and modern sophistication."
Matt is also a multi-instrumentalist and music producer and is one half of Urchin Studios (he would tell you that this was the good half, but this is open to ones definition of the term "good"). He is also a knowledgeable and versalite producer with production credits including The Red Krayola, Roses Kings Castles, Jim Kroft, and Tallulah Rendall.
Outside the studio Matt enjoys swimming, cooking and writing about himself in the third person.
