Richard Jupp has been the drummer of Elbow for over 20 years. He is a cowriter of all 5 of their albums, 3 times Mercury and Brit nominated, their most famous work, The Seldom Seen Kid (2008), won them 12 international awards including a Brit, a Mercury Prize, and 2 Ivor Novello awards. They have sold over 2 million records worldwide and are currently on a world tour promoting their latest album Build A Rocket Boys!
Jupp's individual style comes from being entirely self taught, which has allowed him to experiment with combinations of cymbal set ups. He started with 1 ZBT cymbal given to him by a friend, worked hard, and with guidance from Zildjian's Tina Clarke, progressed through A's, A Customs, K Customs, and is currently using K Custom Hybrids.
On a recent US tour he was able to visit the Boston factory and says it gave him a rare insight into the love, passion, and attention to detail with which every cymbal is made. He says it feels amazing to be part of the Zildjian family.
He currently lives in Manchester with his wife Sarah and son Dylan.
