Born in 1986, Jean-Baptiste Leclère started the percussion first with Daniel Sauvage and then with Michel Gastaud before entering, in 2005, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in the classes of Michel Cerutti, Florent Jodelet and Eric Sammut. He obtained his superior diploma from the Conservatoire in 2008. Moreover, in 2001, he is finalist of the international Timpani competition for the students of the Percussive Arts Society (Perkumania-Paris).
His career allows him to collaborate on different formations such as the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre de Paris, the Kirov Orchestra (Valery Gergiev), the ensemble Intercontemporain, the ensemble Fa, the Choeur Accentus...
Jean-Baptiste is regularly producing himself in chamber music as during the Deauville festival and also with Alexandre Paley, the percussions of the Orchestre National de France (ad ONF) and his colleagues of the Opera National de Paris: Laurent Verney, Fabien Wallerand, Alexis Demailly, Alexis Descharmes. With these three artists he recorded Rauche Pinselspitze II de Klaus Huber (record awarded prize of the Charles Cros Academy in 2010).
Jean-Baptiste is also participating to the recordings of movies soundtracks (Oceans, Gosuto: Mo Ichido Dakishimetai…) and accompany popular artists during their tours (Amaury Vassili) or TV shows (Mariah Carey, Michael Bublé, Johnny Hallyday…).
Jean-Baptiste Leclère is invited to exercise clinics in France as well as abroad. In January 2010, he was invited by Zildjian and Robert McCormick to the University of South Florida School of Music. In 2012, he will be in Colombia for a set of Master Class and concerts. Since the summer of 2011, Jean-Baptiste is a professor of percussion, with his music partner from the Eurocuivres Academy: Emanuel Curt.
Since 2007, Jean-Baptiste Leclère has the post of the 2nd percussion solo of the Orchestre de l'Opéra National de Paris. At the same time he is Timpani solo of the Paris Brass Band and of the Sextet (quintet of brass and percussions) of the solo of the Orchestre de l'Opéra National de Paris. Finally, he is teaching, along with Didier Vérité, in the 13th arrondissement of Paris and with Emmanuel Curt in the 5th arrondissement of Paris.
Since 2011 Jean Baptiste is a Zildjian artist.
