Karl Lewis was born in Bournmouth, UK and started playing drums at the age of 10. In 1980 he moved to Australia and settled into a period of working with different bands as well as becoming a firm part of the studio scene, where he recorded jingles, soundtracks and sessions for various artists. During this period Karl also became an active teacher and Zildjian clinician in Australia.
Karl joined "Savage Garden" in 1997 and went on his second world tour with the band headlining venues such as Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden in New York and the big Hyde Park concerts in the UK. The band also was seen performing at the closing ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Savage Garden record sales to date have now clocked in at over 18 Million.
