  • Band/Affiliation: Feisty Piranhas
  • Country: United States

Born in 1960, at Montreal (Canada) to German parents, Peter started to play drums in the "dungeon" of his parent's 350 year old house. He was then 10.

Peter worked his later teenage years on oil rigs in Northern Alberta Canada before immigrating to the United States in 1979. Peter joined the United States Air force at 19 where he completed his Engineering education in the field of Laser and Microwave Space Communications. Since then, Peter has consulted in the space industry. He is involved with the designing and construction of communication and spacecraft products and has represented some of the worlds most renowned spacecraft equipment manufactures.

Peter now is a family man and plays in the rock group "Feisty Piranhas" with his son, Peter Alex. His son is remarkable for several reasons - outside his inate talents: he has a severe hearing impairment. The Feisty Piranhas are an eclectic Southern California band made up of an equally eclectic group of people. The band's "frontman" and lead guitarist is a seventeen year-old songwriter with his roots in SoCal punk rock. Peter Alexander Lust III was born with a 95% loss of hearing in his right ear and 50% loss of hearing in his left. That has not stopped him from creating a brilliant array of music. Peter "POPS" has over 35 years of drumming experience. From the early days of a $10 drum kit in the basement, through to live shows on the strip. The band's mix of blues-punk-hard rock guitar, progressive rock drumming, emotional vocals, and razor sharp clarinet harmonies creates a new breed of songs that are catchy but also have true emotion and musical attitude that are supported by Peter Alex's lyrics.

The band was entered into the 48th, 49th and 50th Grammy's and was eligible for nomination in 12 categories in 2008 for the muilti award winning album THE END. Were on the bill for the 30th Anniversary show of seminal punk band, The Misfits, played NAMM main stage, Opened for Blue Oyster Cult. The FP's were part of the nationwide Vans Warped Tour in 2006.

The group took home multiple honors at two year-end Awards shows in the Los Angeles area: "Album of the Year" at the All Access Magazine Music Awards in November in Hollywood at The Knitting Factory; and "Best Punk Group" plus "Best Independent CD" at the South Bay (Calif.) Music Awards during November in Redondo Beach, where they also performed live.

"By combining straightforward arrangements with instrumental virtuosity, the Piranhas have achieved a sound that is remarkably powerful, simple without being sloppy, big without being ostentatious," noted VENTURA COUNTY REPORTER scribe, Matt Singer. "Their sound is dark, moody, Socal punk/pop with unexpected flourishes," says Host Brian Lush of the ROCKWIRED RADIO SHOW. "After listening to the first song (on their CD), I was hooked," wrote Matt Zeltzer of THE SPARTAN. "Each song kept the same basic principles that seem to define the Feisty Piranhas: simple yet bold clarinet and sax lines, solid rhythm guitar, electrifying lead guitar, and an amazing amount of layers in the sound (four out of five stars)." "They bring so much energy!," writes the VENTURA COUNTY STAR. "The band's mix of blues-punk-hard rock guitar, progressive rock drumming, emotional vocals, and razor sharp clarinet harmonies creates a new breed of songs that are catchy but also have true emotion and musical attitude that are supported by Peter Alex's lyrics," says the LONDON GARCIA SHOW
