A native to Perth, Western Australia, Haydn Meggitt was brought up in a musical family and gives thanks to his Mother and sound engineer Father for introducing him to live gigs while he was still in the womb. Studying with some of Perth’s finest drummers and educators, Haydn quickly made a name for himself in the local music scene working an average of 4 nights a week by the time he was 17. Working with Perth’s top session musicians in a variety of styles over a number of years, Haydn eventually made the move east to Melbourne in 2003 to follow his heart and challenge him self both personally and musically.
The move paid off and since then, he has been sinking his teeth deeper and deeper into a variety of projects both live and in the studio. Recent times have kept him busy touring with Australian rock legend, Ross Wilson of Daddy Cool & Mondo Rock fame. One of the hardest working musos in Australia, Ross has enjoyed major chart success throughout an illustrious 4 and a half decade long career which see the band playing to packed houses wherever they go. In between a hectic touring schedule with Ross, Haydn also finds time to play shows and record with Australian Idol winner Natalie Gauci, multi award winning country act Carter & Carter, London based electro/pop outfit Frequent People, and even some crazy gigs all over the world with acclaimed ABBA tribute band Bjorn Again. Any spare time is generally shared between honing his producing & engineering skills in his own studio and maintaining a happy home life with the his wife and two dogs. No mean feat considering the last few years has taken him to South Africa, The United Kingdom, Los Angeles, Mexico, Thailand, India, Dubai, Singapore and just about everywhere across Australia.
Add to all of this an impressive list of artists and bands that Haydn has performed and recorded with including Jimmy Barnes, Dan Sultan, The Chantoozies, James Reyne, The Models, Daryl Braithwaite, Anthony Callea, Rob Mills, Brian Mannix and Kids in The Kitchen and you can see that he is certainly well respected in the industry.
In demand for studio sessions, tours, theatre, advertising work, corporate shows and your good old fashioned pub gig, Haydn is accomplished in drumset, hand percussion and vocals and is making an exciting living doing what he loves.
Haydn Meggitt plays Ludwig drums, Zildjian cymbals, Vic Firth sticks and Remo drumheads.
