Jerry Marotta began playing drums professionally before graduating high school. In 1973 he toured with the group Arthur, Hurley, & Gotlieb in support of a top 40 single "Sunshine Ship" for Columbia records. A couple of years later, Jerry joined the Woodstock, New York based band, Orleans. The group's second hit single after "Dance With Me" was "Still The One" one of Jerry's first professional recording experiences which can still be heard frequently today on classic rock stations all over The U.S.

After leaving Orleans Jerry began working with Peter Gabriel. Jerry has recorded and toured with many high profile artists such as Peter Gabriel, Paul McCartney, Tears for Fears, Hall and Oats, Joan Armatrading, Cher, and Robbie Robertson to name a few.

Jerry now resides in upstate New York where he spends much of his time producing at his studio, Jersville. He divides his time between recording and touring with such artists as The Indigo Girls, Sheryl Crowe, Jewel, Suzanne Vega, Sean Lennon, Ani DiFranco, and Vonda Sheperd among others and along with world renowned synth wizard Larry Fast and guitar master Jesse Gress. Jerry recently reunited with Tony Levin and began touring in support of Levins 2 Narada Records releases.

Jerry's numerous production credits include albums by Barbara Kessler, Ellis Paul, Jenny Bird, Kristen Hall, Grey Eye Glances, Andy Caine, Pam Golden and Gabriella Schaaf. Jerry Marotta plays an array of Zildjian cymbals including the A Custom, K Custom, K Zildjian, A Zildjian and Remix lines.
