Samantha Maloney, accomplished musician and songwriter who studied music at the legendary fame school in NYC, has come a long way in a short time. Drumming for everyone from Joan Jett to Motley Crue to the genius composer Hans Zimmer, Samantha has been a busy girl.

Samantha moved from New York to LA in January of 2001 where she continued her musical journey. In February, she made music for Darryl Hannah's documentary about stripper called "Stripnotes". In May, she went out to the Joshua Tree desert to work on the "desert session 7 and 8" cd with Josh from Queens of the Stoneage and other west coasters. All along Sam was working in her home studio on her own compositions and in June she and Scott Ian from Anthrax/vh1 fame were asked to write and record music for the Mr Show movie "Run Ronnie Run". That became "Titanica". During this time Sam was also involved with Oscar winning composer Hans Zimmer on his score for the Ridley Scott film "Black Hawk Down". Sam added live drums to the score which can be heard through most of the film!

In 2002, Sam, alongside Melissa (Smashing Pumpkins/Hole), Paz (A Perfect Circle) and Radio (The Need) created the new band The Chelsea and the foursome debuted at Spaceland in Silverlake, Ca playing a varied list of original tunes including vocals by three of the four girls and cover tunes. Then soon after, Sam got the call that she would be recording and writing with an absolutely incredible lineup of legends. Stephen Trask, one of the two masterminds behind the genius musical/movie "Hedwig and the Angry Inch", Sara Lee, the legendary bassist from Gang of Four, The B-52s, Indigo Girls and many others, and finally Joan Jett, one of the greatest rockers to ever hold a mic. The lead actress, Gina Gershon, also was to sing the lead vocals. Sam, needless to say, jumped at the chance. Soon after rehearsing in NYC, the "motley" bunch recorded tracks in upstate New York for the soon to be released film "Prey for Rock'N'Roll".

Lately, her schedule has included film scoring and a ton of home studio production. Many of Sam's new mp3s are up in the Samantha "solo" section. A solo album is definitely a possibility as is a new apparel/gear company called Drumsexy. Look for it soon.
