Dave Neale grew up in Cornwall and started playing drums at the age of five, joining his first band when he was eleven and continuing to play jazz, indie, punk and hard rock with friends through secondary school.
After GCSEs Dave went to Truro College to study for a National Diploma in Popular Music. It gave him his first insight into the workings of the Music industry and his playing went from strength to strength over these two years. It was during this time that he played percussion in a funk r n b act with Luke Potashnick guitarist with Rooster.
At eighteen years Dave went to the Brighton Institute of Modern Music to study for the Higher Diploma in Musicianship. The college taught live performance, business and technique along with in depth lessons on specific drummers.
Dave says: I learnt all about some of my favourite drummers including Jose Pasillas, Taylor Hawkins, Dave Grohl, Abe Cunningham and Travis Barker. I am also a big fan of Reuben drummer Guy Davis. During that year I got a phone call from Luke to come and jam with him and Nick Atkinson vocals with Rooster.
After Ben Smyth was drafted in on bass the band Rooster with above mentioned Artists started gigging around London. Rooster have toured the UK many times together with tours of Japan and Asia, they have a self titled album out now.
Rooster are heading to LA soon to record the follow-up which should be out early 2006.
