Mike Nevin lives in Aurora, Colorado where he is a percussion writer, arranger, adjudicator and clinician. Mike has written for and taught many award winning percussion ensembles including two-time Winter Guard International Concert Class Champion Gateway High School and the two-time WGI Independent World Class Champion Blue Knights Percussion Ensemble. His direct involvement with WGI began in 1995 when he came to compete in Dayton, Ohio as the writer/instructor for Blue Knights and Scholastic World Class Bear Creek High School. Since then, every ensemble that Mike has taken to WGI has been a finalist in their class and 12 of those have been medalists.
Mike is currently the front ensemble writer/arranger and instructor for the Blue Knights Percussion Ensemble as well as percussion caption head for Pomona High School in Arvada, Colorado and Cherry Creek High School in Englewood Colorado.
Mike also serves on the Board of Directors of the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association and the Winter Guard International Percussion Advisory Board. He received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Montana State University under Jim Campbell and Daniel P. Moore and his Masters Degree in Percussion Performance from the University of Northern Colorado under Gray Barrier.
He is also a freelance orchestral percussionist and drum set player in the Denver area and has played tenor and guitar pan regularly with the Pan Jumbies Steel Band since 1990.
