Arthur Osipov was born in Georgia, USSR. Started playing too late, at the age of 14.
His first teachers were records by LED ZEPPELIN, DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH and RUSH, and more adult guys, who were able, or believed, that they were able to play.
Later, there were two years of studies at a musical college and work in the group which he organized at the State Drama Theatre in the city of Nalchik, recording of music for performances and touring with their own program.
This was followed by his studies at a jazz college in Moscow and session playing on drums and percussion in several groups. From the middle 90s he worked with some local stars, such as the pop-rock group "Russkie" and pop singer Varvara.
In the last five years he has been recording CDs and regularly touring around Russia, Europe and USA with the well-known Russian singer Grigory Leps.
In 2004 he performed on a Zildjian Day in Moscow, with Simon Phillips.
For more than 15 years he has been playing on Zildjian cymbals and in the last 5 years he has preferred the A Custom Projection series. He always uses Zildjian mallets and drumsticks wax.
“I had played a great number of cymbals, but finally I chose Zildjian A Custom. I always preferred bright and aggressive cymbals’ sound. But once we have played in small club and our bassist got deaf because of my crash! So I was made to chose something not so bright and I have chosen K Custom. I am an old rocker, but suddenly it appears to me, that I prefer very pop-sounded cymbals! I like soft hihat sound in order to play thin and light patterns, in order to made it more beautiful!”
