Getting started by the early age of 6 and being inspired by drummers like Queen's Roger Taylor, Ben completed 10 years of classical drumming education whilst winning Germany's classical music contest "Jugend Musiziert" three times, playing in several classical orchestras and starting his first bands.
While exploring the genre he was influenced by heavy hitters such as Sepultura's Igor Cavalera, technical masterminds like Gene Hoglan, Raymond Herrerra of Fear Factory, groove monsters with the likes of Helmet's John Stanier or Robert Heaton of New Model Army, but also discovered the virtuosity of Steve Gadd, Dennis Chambers or even Art Blakey.
From 1997 until 2006, Ben was the drummer of the modern-metal band Koroded with extensive touring throughout Europe with the likes of Crowbar, Stuck Mojo, Biohazard, Heaven Shall Burn, Hypocrisy, Amorphis, Soilwork, Maroon, Refused, Ektomorf, Entombed, Pro Pain, Downset amongst others and lots of major festival appearances. Since 2003, he also plays as live-drummer for the gothic-rock-wave-pop outfit Psycho Luna and toured with The Birthday Massacre, Staubkind, Letzte Instanz, Lacrimas Profundere, Eisheilig. Being always affiliated with more than just one band, Ben is still the drummer for the longtime project Individualverformer, formed in 1994 and played for the Cologne based band Circle Of Grin from 2006 until they disbanded in 2008. Ben even formed a new metal band called Black Thoughts Bleeding in late 2006, played several shows with the likes of Walls Of Jericho, Ghost Brigade, Misery Speaks, Zero Mentality and again some major festival appearances, but called it quits in early 2010!
Ben studied drums full time at the Drummers Institute in Düsseldorf, Germany and visited workshops and master classes covering a brought variety of drummers like Adam Nussbaum, Phil Maturano, Bruce Becker, Benny Greb or Mike Terrana. Today his musical skills range from metal to pop, from hip hop to punk, and he plays as live-, session- or studio-drummer, having worked with lots of bands and artists. Ben also gives private drum lessons, works at a local music school and runs his own recording studio.
"My very first Ride cymbal was a Zildjian and now being part of that family is a bit like closing a circle."
