Susan Powell joined the Ohio State University School of Music faculty in fall 2000 as Assitant Professor of Percussion and Director of Percussion Studies. Prior to her appointment at Ohio State, Powell served on the faculty at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosk. She received the Bachelor of Music degree from Eastman School of Music, where she was awarded the Performers Certificate, and the Master of Music degree from Northwestern University. She is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Northwestern. Powell has been a featured soloist at the 1993, 1996 and 1999 Percusive Arts Society International Conventions, and hosted the 2002 convention in Columbus, Ohio. She has made numerous appearances as a clinician and performer, appearing at universities and percussion seminars across the country, as well as in Prague, Czech Republic as a faculty member of the Ameropa Chamber Music Festival. Powell is also an active composer of percussion music and performs regularly with Joseph Krygier as the Pendulum Percussion Duo. The Duo's first release will be available in 2004.
