Percussionist Andrew Reamer joined the Pittsburgh Symphony in 1989 and was appointed Principal Percussion in 2008. He earned Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Temple University.
Mr. Reamer is Chair of Percussion at Duquesne University, conducts the Duquesne University Percussion Ensemble, and plays in the jazz trio, The White Tie Group, that comprises PSO colleagues. He has composed a popular collection of etudes for marimba titled "Reamer's Elixirs Two-Mallet Fixers" and is staff drummer/percussionist at Grammy-winning recording studio, Audible Images. He regularly conducts masterclasses and clinics around the country and is an endorser for Zildjian, Evans and Innovative Mallets.
He works with his father, William H., in making highly sought-after custom drums and sticks, which can be viewed at www.drummersservice.com. He also enjoys architecture, antiques and bicycling.
