I started to play the drums at the age of six and began to play professionally at the age of sixteen when I joined the cult R and B group Rent Party which gave me my initial experience of touring, Radio and T.V work, including a live performance on the Russell Harty Show. After some time, I decided that I would like to explore other areas of music, particularly Funk and Jazz.
I have worked with The James Taylor Quartet since 1992 and have recorded and toured worldwide with them over the years. I have gained a great deal of experience in all aspects of the music industry with the band which has involved the recording of twelve commercial albums, three library albums for Bruton Music, many Radio sessions including live on Radio1 and also various TV appearances which included a complete series of the Gaby Roslin Show, as the House Band, backing various artists including Ian Dury, Squeeze, Omar, Cybil Sheppard, Ricky Ross of Deacon Blue, and Tony Hadley.
Other artists I have worked with as part of JTQ include Roy Ayers, David Mc Almont, Mathew Marsden, Snowboy and the Latin Section and Tom Jones on the album 'Reload'.
Aside from JTQ, I have recorded Library albums for BMG music and my own projects have included the release of a play-along CD called Groove Challenge and co-wrote the soundtrack to a full series on the BBC called The Trench.
I am endorsed by Zildjian cymbals and Premier drums and have performed many clinics for them around the UK. I have also appeared several times at the National Music Show for Rhythm magazine.
