"Keep your mind open, listen, and play for the music" is Leif's motto
Whether it's rock stars Carmen Consoli, Malika Ayane, pop idols Francesco Renga, Paolo Meneguzzi, Paola & Chiara, or rap artists Gemelli Diversi, Leif's versatility in groove, sound and musicality covers it all, giving him the opportunity to perform on Italy's main stages, whether it's clubs, theaters or festivals.
That's also the reason why his work includes backing international artists such as Patti Smith, Ricky Martin, Shania Twain, and Phil Collins on national Television and MTV.
Drumming started very early for Leif, as his father was timpanist and percussionist for La Scala Opera and Philarmonic Orchestra and an internationally renowned teacher.
He completed his studies under the guidance of Italian drum legend Tullio DePiscopo, Jeffrey Boudreaux, and Ettore Fioravanti, amongst others, achieving the Professional Diploma at the American Institute of Music, Vienna and the Siena Jazz professional course.
During this period, he started his musical formation, performing with Jazz, Fusion, Rock, and Funk Bands in clubs around Germany, Austria, and Italy.
Today his personal projects include Jazz quintet, Quarto, as well as the Tom's Family Funk Band which includes the best musicians on the Italian scene, while still working live and in studio for Italian recording artists.
Leif is also head of the Drum department in both music schools Cluster, Milan and Musicolandia, Gallarate as well as part of the teaching staff at Milan’s Drum Store, Percussion Village.
