Drummers don't just play music..they live it..from the time they wake up with coffee until they fall asleep from exhaustion. Playing, singing and writing, most drummers and musicians go to extreme lengths to live out their dreams.

John Fred Young was born December 11th,1984 into a musical family that lives and breathes it. His father Richard Young and his uncle Fred formed the grammy award winning band The Kentucky Headhunters in 1968 and have been together for 42 years.

John Fred was 5 when uncle Fred bought him a Remo youth set to start him out. He gave him some old Zildjian high-hats for a crash and ride. His dad wanted him to be a guitar player but he was born to be a drummer.

As a youngster John Fred traveled with the Headhunters and was fortunate enough to be exposed to many great drummers such as Buddy Miles, Levon Helm and Tommy Aldridge. This helped John Fred to create a solid interest in many different genres of music at an early age. Through his uncle he was exposed to Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Bernard Purdie, John Bonham, Mitch Mitchell, Ginger Baker, and most of all his Uncle Fred.

In 2001, at the age of 16 John Fred and his best friends started Black Stone Cherry. Chris Robertson, Jon Lawhon, Ben Wells and John Fred moved in the famous "Practice House",(a farm house John Freds great grandmother had given his dad and uncle when they were 16 to start the Headhunters).

After 4 years of writing and constant rehearsing Black Stone Cherry signed with Roadrunner Records in 2005. The next year the band released their self entitled debut album "Back Stone Cherry". The band toured off the album across North America and Canada and cultivated tons of true Rock-n-Roll die hard fans.

Constant touring and the single releases,"Lonely Train," "Hell and High Water" and "Rain Wizard" helped the band to achieve their first among many tours to the U.K. and Europe.

In 2007 Black Stone Cherry won the "Best New Band" award at the Classic Rock Awards in London for their debut release.
Black Stone Cherry followed up their debut release with their 2008 album "Folklore and Superstition".

Once again the band hit the road for more heavy touring and Through their powerful live shows are growing a very loyal fan base.

Black Stone Cherry truly are one of those magic bands that remind you of why we fell in love with Rock n' Roll in the first place.

This is truly one of the most solid and flamboyant live shows you can go see.
