Zildjian Winter NAMM '09 Review

January 27, 2009

Winter NAMM '09 came and went with a flash, but not before the California sun gave way to some fresh metal from Zildjian for the new year.

On the first day of the show, Zildjian announced the expansion of two of our most innovative cymbal lines, the A Custom ReZos and the K Custom Hybrids. The ReZo expansion includes the reincarnation of the classic "Pang" model in two sizes, one Ride, two HiHats and two Splashes that add to the multi-dimensional line that has quickly become a hit. For the Hybrids, we added a larger Ride, a new Trash Crash and a great Trash Splash.

For a complete write-up on the latest pies and to see and hear them, read the "Fresh Metal From Zildjian for '09" news post.

Also new for 2009, Zildjian has redesigned all of the Sheet Box Sets featuring some of the greatest affordable cymbals around, paired with some of the best drummers there are. The freshly designed sets now feature Adrian Young (No Doubt), Tre Cool (Green Day), Travis Barker (TRV$DJAM), Thomas Pridgen (The Mars Volta), John Blackwell (Prince/Justin Timberlake), Moose (Bullet for My Valentine), L.P. (Lost Prophets), Alex Rodriguez (Saosin) and Jordan Mancino (As I Lay Dying). Take a look through the photo gallery for some snap shots of the new-and-improved box sets.

And as if that's not enough, Zildjian also officially introduced our latest Artist Series Drumsticks. This time around, we've got some incredible sticks including the edgy Travis Barker Black Stick; the elongated, powerful John Blackwell Stick; the light and balanced, hand-designed Ronnie Vannucci Stick and the always classy Ronald Bruner Jr. Stick.

Oh yea, we've also got some great new cymbal bags to the tune of Steve Gadd and Armand Zildjian!!!

On the Zildjian booth, we also featured some incredible footage from the 2008 ZDAA celebrating Ginger Baker and Zildjian's 385th year. Also on display, was Ginger's fantastic kit he used for the ZDAA with the unique ZDAA artwork to commemorate the event. Ginger was not on hand at NAMM, but we had plenty of Zildjian artists at the famous 'Artist Signing' table. Hanging out with all the fans was a star-studded roster including Steve Smith, Jason Bonham, Sheila E., Gil Sharone, Hannah Ford, Pat Petrillo, Brooks Wackerman, Thomas Pridgen, Adam Deitch and many, many, many more.
