Sunday's 51st Grammy Awards brought together the music industry's top acts for a night of collaborations and awards. Zildjian artists were well represented throughout the night and many were lucky winners of the prestigious Grammy award.
Surprisingly (well, maybe not that surprising), performers from the UK were the big winners. 4 of the 5 nominations for Record of the Year were from across the pond. For a list of nominees, please read below. Robert Plant and Allison Kraus won top honors of the night for their album Raising Sand (Jay Bellerose had drumming duties on the album).
The highlights of the night were definitely the performances. Coldplay and their thunderous rendition of the nominated and winning "Viva la Vida" after singing "Lost" with Jay-Z, Radiohead performed with the USC marching band (all of whom were using Zildjian pies), David Grohl assisted Sir Paul McCartney from behind his kit, Jack Lawless backed the Jonas Brothers with Stevie Wonder, Phillip "Fish" Fisher played behind Justin Timberlake and TI and Teddy Campbell was holding it down during a tribute to the Four Tops and Motown with Smokey Robinson, Jaimie Foxx, Ne-Yo and the lone surviving member of the Four Tops, Duke Fakir.
One of the biggest events of the night though took place as Travis Barker joined his former Blink-182 band mates on stage to present the award for Best Rock Album. The rumor mill had been buzzing, but is now official, Blink-182 will be back on the road touring this Summer! Stay tuned to Zildjian.com for more news on the tour as it comes.
