The Juilliard School proudly welcomed Valerie Naranjo for a clinic on February 9th, in which she discussed various performance traditions of West Africa, demonstrated a wide variety of percussive techniques, and answered a broad range of questions before an audience of over 60 aspiring young performers. The program was presented as part of Juilliard's Horizons program series, dedicated to informing and introducing young artists to the diverse and exciting opportunities which await them upon graduation. The program was also included as a centerpiece of Juilliard's Black History Month calendar.
