Gregg Bissonette participated in The Academy's CenterStage production at the Tempe Center for the Arts in Tempe, Arizona on June 5 and 6, 2009. The audience was a mix of a student musicians and the community. Since the event was centered around the theater performance, the audience enjoyed mostly seeing Gregg perform and talking about his experiences as a drummer. Gregg was featured on several occasions throughout the production. He performed a duet with an up-and-coming age-out drummer from The Academy. Then played along with the brass section and David Coolidge, trumpet soloist for an arrangement of Allen Vizzutti's Fire Dance. Next, he performed an extended solo featuring all of the equipment he is endorsed by. And finally, was joined by the entire Academy drumline for a rousing conclusion. Throughout the evening he talked to the audience about his career in music, and how his relationship with the companies made it possible to make these kind of appearances. He had a wonderful balance of product promotion with humorous story telling and, of course, amazing drumming.
