Over 55,000 music fans flocked to Seaclose Park on the Isle of Wight, UK, this past weekend to party, dance and soak up the sun-drenched atmosphere of the Isle of Wight Festival.
The musical bonanza, one of the most famous music festivals in the world, has something for everyone, including A List celebrities, many of whom reached the Festival site via private yacht instead of the car/passenger ferry which carries the music fans and bands alike...it's the only way to reach the Isle of Wight from mainland England.
Zildjian Artists headlined the three-day festival; Friday saw The Prodigy (Leo Crabtree) party hard, Saturday rocked with the Stereophonics (Javier Weyler) and on Sunday the legendary Neil Young (Chad Cromwell) closed the show.
The festival was broadcasted live on ITV 2 and Absolute Radio and featured many of the UK's top bands, and Zildjian Artists including:
Pendulum (Paul Kodish), the Ting Tings (Jules De Martino), Ladyhawke (Ben Morgan), Beverley Knight (Carlos Hercules), Razorlight (Skully), Maximo Park (Tom English), White Lies (Jack Lawrence-Brown), The Zombies (Steve Rodford), Ultravox (Warren Cann), Calvin Harris (Ben Clavert), Will Young (Ash Soan), Mercury Rev (Jeff Mercel), The Pigeon Detectives (Jimmi Naylor), The Horrors (Joe Spurgen) and topping off the Big Top Tent to a crammed 15,000 crowd...the Charlatans (Jon Brookes).
For Sterephonics fans it was a special night, being the Stereophonics only Festival performance of the year. Javier, who has recently recorded drums on Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols) solo project said; "we (the Stereophonics) have just finished recording the new studio album (7th Studio album) which is coming out October-November this year, so it was great to actually play live." Javier's cymbal set-up on the night was:
15" A Rock Hat (Top)/15" K Hi Hat (Bottom)
21" K Crash Ride
22" K Crash Ride
22" K Dark Ride
14" K Custom Special Dry Hi Hats
19" K Custom Hybrid Crash
Also pictured hanging out at the backstage bar, comparing notes on the new Z3's , are Paul Kodish (Pendulum) and Leo Crabtree (Prodigy)...Paul was using the 19" Z3 Medium Crash and Leo was loving the 22" Z3 Medium Heavy Ride, 18" Z3 Rock Crash and the 14" Z3 HiHats.
