The 2009 fall season provided many opportunities for celebration by the Colleyville Heritage percussion program. In September, the drum line continued its winning streak, taking home first place honors in the standstill division at the Plano Drum Line competition. Along with this distinction, the students also earned caption awards for "best snare line" and "best bass line".
In November, ten members of the CHHS percussion program travelled to Indianapolis, IN to participate in the 2009 Percussive Arts International Competition.
Mr. Ausdemore provided a professional development session for this year's PAS conference as well, titled "How to Start, Build and Maintain a District-Wide Percussion Club."
In addition to the successes of the CHHS drum line during the 2009 marching season, the Colleyville Heritage High School band also had a very successful year. The 2009 band show production titled "Joy" arranged by Donald Hill and Jeff Ausdemore earned a 5th Place Marching Band & Outstanding Color Guard at the Birdville ISD Marching Festival, 8th Place in finals at the Arlington BOA regional contest, and 11th Place in finals at the BOA Super Regional in San Antonio.
The CHHS percussion studio is very fortunate to have the following private lesson faculty, in addition to clinicians throughout the year:
Matt Moore (Assistant Director of Percussion Studies)
