Zildjian congratulates Matthew Clark Thomas, winner of the 2010 Avedis Zildjian Endowed Percussion Scholarship at Juliard.
Matthew Clark Thomas is currently completing his Master of Music degree at The Juilliard School, where he studies with Markus Rhoten and Gregory Zuber. He performs regularly with the Juilliard School Orchestra and has worked with conductors Alan Gilbert, Michael Tilson Thomas, Xian Zhang, Leonard Slatkin, James DePreist, and Neil Varon, among others.
Matthew is a Texas native, and graduated from the Eastman School of Music in 2009, where he studied with Michael Burritt, John Beck, and William Cahn. At Eastman, he performed regularly with the Eastman Wind Ensemble and Eastman Philharmonia.
In addition to his studies, Matthew is also working as a freelance musician in New York, and has performed as a substitute player with the New York Philharmonic.
