On October 7th, Zildjian hosted students from the Berklee College of Music. They were treated to a tour around the factory, updates on Zildjian’s newest products, and a special clinic by drummer and educator Dave Mattacks (pictured left).
The event was a great success as 52 Berklee students attended the trip to Zildjian. The saying "Kid in a candy store" often best exemplified the feelings of most of the students. Between the factory tour, where they met our amazing crew of testers and crafters, and the Drummers Lounge, chocked full of every cymbal they could want, the students had a blast seeing where their favorite cymbals came from. Yet even after all that, they were treated to a fantastic clinic by Zildjian’s Dave Mattacks.
As a familiar face to Berklee, Dave expanded past the basics of his playing into a clinic about listening to your set up around the room. It was a great opportunity for the students to be able to participate in a clinic that took them away from the usual information and made them think about the other aspects of their live performance. Not only were the students thrilled with the clinic, but Dave was pleased with the opportunity to return to the factory.
A great time was had by all and we hope to continue this success with next year’s visit.
