Zildjian is pleased to recognize the winner of the 2011 Zildjian Interlochen Arts Camp Percussion Scholarship, Kelly Stathis.
Kelly attended the camp for the first time this summer where she studied with Ji Hye Jung and Zildjian’s own Keith Aleo. The camp experience not only rejuvenated her creativity, but also opened her eyes to the multitude of possibilities that percussion has to offer. The opportunity to interact with so many percussionists was a new experience to her as she was the only percussionist at her school last year. “The environment here is collaborative as opposed to competitive,” said Stathis.
Zildjian is proud to have sponsored such a bright young woman and glad to see her perspective on life renewed. Her own words sum up her experience the best: “Time away from home would have been unbearable without both the people and the lake, and this experience would have been impossible without your gift. You’ve changed my life and ways of thinking. This inspires me to encourage others to do the same.”
