Zildjian congratulates James (Jim) Benoit, winner of the 2011 Zildjian Endowed Percussion Scholarship at the Juilliard School.
Jim is currently on course to complete his Masters studies at The Julliard School, where he studies with Markus Rhoten, Greg Zuber, and Dan Druckman. Previous to his studies at Julliard, he attended The Berklee College of Music. While at Berklee he was a member of the internationally recognized Rainbow Band under Phil Wilson and helped found the group The Waitiki 7. He was also a percussionist with the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, CA.
Aside from his university based performances, he has also led an accomplished carrier performing with the Albany Symphony, Boston Ballet, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Boston Symphony Pops Orchestra, at the Aspen Music Festival and Eastern Music Festival and was on tour as Principle Timpanist and Percussionist with the Lucas Films Production Star Wars in Concert in 2010.
Zildjian is proud to award such a well versed and highly motivated individual the 2011 Avedis Zildjian Endowed Percussion Scholarship. We wish him only the best in his career.
