Many congratulations to Zildjian Artist, Jesse Wood, of The Naked And Famous for their fantastic achievements at the New Zealand Music Awards on 3 November 2011.
The band dominated the major categories with a clean sweep of the Tuis for:
ALBUM OF THE YEAR – Passive Me, Aggressive You
SINGLE OF THE YEAR – "Young Blood"
BEST ALTERNATIVE ALBUM – Passive Me, Aggressive You
BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST OF THE YEAR
The video for the band's hit, "Punching in A Dream," also won its producers, Special Problems, the BEST VIDEO Award, while group members Thom Powers and Aaron Short also walked away with the BEST PRODUCER Award and the BEST ENGINEER Award.
The Naked and Famous, whose debut album Passive Me, Aggressive You hit the charts at #1 in their native New Zealand in 2010 went on to debut at #25 on the UK album chart when it was released worldwide in March 2011. The band made the UK’s prestigious BBC Sound of 2011 long list and in February 2011, they collected the Philip Hall Radar Award at the Shockwaves NME Awards in London, UK.
Congratulations also to fellow Zildjian Artists, Tom Larkin, as he and his band Shihad won the BEST ROCK ALBUM for Ignite and also to Sam de Jong with his band Parachute Band who won BEST GOSPEL/CHRISTIAN ALBUM for Love Without A Measure.
