Zildjian Welcomes Bruce Wallace from South Africa to the Worldwide Family of Artists

Zildjian is delighted to welcome Bruce Wallace, from South Africa, to the worldwide family of Artists.

Bruce is currently one of the most recorded Artists in South Africa. He has performed on over three hundred albums to date, with over 35 of those reaching Multi-Platinum, Platinum, or Gold status and also has nine SAMA (South Africa’s equivalent to the Grammy) to his credit. His Live DVD performance with Juanita Du Plesis and Teuns Jordaan has reached triple platinum status, and has sold out South Africa’s biggest venues like Grand West Casino (Cape town) and Carnival city (Johannesburg). It is currently the best selling music DVD in South African history.

Bruce was born in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa and at the age of eight took formal tuition in drums and percussion. Shortly afterwards, his family emigrated to the UK, where he continued his musical education and by the age of 12 he was performaing with the Northern Ireland Junior Symphony Orchestra. Bruce then returned to South Africa and completed his secondary education, finally obtaining a National Diploma in Light Music at the Technikon Pretoria.

Bruce has since worked with the “who’s who” of the South African music industry, including, The Soweto String Quartet, Mean Mr.Mustard, Teuns Jordaan, Bok Van Blerk, Steve Hofmeyer, Mango Groove, Danny K, Nianell, Eden, Juanita Du Plesis, Leanie May, Bobby Van Jaarsveld, and P J Powers to name a few. He regularly plays with the Electric Pops Orchestra, The Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, and is a member of the 702 Radio, Solid Gold Band. In 2010, Bruce performed at the World Expo in Shanghai for Chinese artist Lilly Feng.

In addition to his professional career as a session musician, Bruce conducts clinics and workshops and owns a recording studio, B.I.T.S (Beat In Time Studios).

Bruce says of Zildjian, "I received my first pair of K Zildjian Hi Hats for my 11th birthday. The same pair has recorded literally hundreds of Albums to date, and I’ve used Zildjian on every recording I’ve ever made since. The feedback I get from producers and engineers regarding my cymbal sound, is so positive, I simply cannot imagine using another cymbal brand.”
