Hot off the heels of taking home the "Best in Show" Award at the 2011 NAMM Show, Zildjian's Gen16 AE Cymbals have completed a trifecta of the awards season at this year's MusikMesse in Frankfurt, Germany. The AE Cymbals were awarded two M.I.P.A. awards (Musikmesse International Press Award) beating out top keyboard workstations, software, guitars, and every edrum brand.
The first award handed out was for "Most Innovative Product" given to the top product across all brands and instruments. Gen16 then took home a second award for "Electronic Drums," beating out the best electronic drum systems in the world. CEO, Craigie Zildjian was on hand to accept both awards.
Needless to say, we are very excited and gracious to M.I.P.A.! In receiving the awards, Craigie Zildjian said:
"It's a great honor to be receiving this award. My father Armand always said to follow the music and that's what we are doing with Gen16 and the Acoustic Electric Cymbal."
Gen16's AE Cymbals are real acoustic cymbals that sound and respond just like a traditional cymbal, but play at less than a quarter of the volume. A patented dual microphone system and sophisticated digital signal processing enables the AE Cymbal to create a range of natural cymbal sounds without the use of sampling or MIDI. For the past 12 years, more than 100 magazines from all over the world vote for the best musical instruments and audio equipment of the year in more than 40 categories to choose the winners of the M.I.P.A. Musikmesse International Press Award.
This year's awards were presented to the winners at a special M.I.P.A. awards ceremony and party held during Musikmesse/Prolight + Sound on Thursday, April 7th, 2011.
More than 300 international representatives of manufacturers and distributors of musical instruments and audio equipment got together for the 12th M.I.P.A. awards show, including guests from the USA, Canada, Japan, Brazil, South Africa, Russia, Poland, Great Britain, Italy, France, Greece, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Switzerland, and Germany.
This proves that the M.I.P.A. Musikmesse International Press Award has been established as the "Grammy" of the Musical Instrument/Pro Audio industry.
