Zildjian would like to congratulate Michael Sparhuber on being selected as the recipient of this year's Avedis Zildjian Percussion Scholarship at the Curtis Institute of Music.
Originally from Brockport, NY, Sparhuber entered Curtis in 2007 and studies timpani and percussion with Don Liuzzi and Robert Van Sice. He began studying percussion at age nine and studied prvately with Ruth Cahn of the Eastman COmmunity Music School. Prior to entering Curtis, he graduated from the Eastman Community Music School with preparatory diplomas with honors in percussion performance and music theory.
