A big congratulations to all the Zildjian Corps who competed in the Drum Corp International (DCI) World Championships on August 10th!
As you may or may not already know, Carolina Crown came from behind to defeat the Blue Devils in a stunning victory at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN. The Cadets came in third, with the Santa Clara Vanguard a close fourth.
Another congratulation goes to The Cadets, who also won the Fred Sanford "Best Percussion" trophy.
For only the second time in DCI history, all 12 of the corps in the "Finals" played Zildjian! We are thrilled to say that this year, 20 of the 22 World Class touring corps were playing Zildjian, and 22 of the 25 from the Semi Finals were also playing Zildjian.
Here is a quick look at the top four scores:
1st - 98.30 - Carolina Crown, Best Brass, Best Visual, Best General Effect (GE)
2nd - 98.05 - The Blue Devils, Best Color Guard
3rd - 96.95 - The Cadets, Best Percussion
4th - 96.85 - Santa Clara Vanguard
An interesting note, when we visited with one of the corps; we asked the front ensemble how many of them would be returning home to teach high school bands. Almost all of them raised their hands, with some teaching two or three schools!
Congratulations again, to all performers who marched this year. So much hard work goes into the season, and Zildjian is extremely proud of its close association with DCI.
