The Zildjian Room Opens at the Gyurmi Concert Hall in Armenia

Cymbals Donated to the Yerevan and Gyumri Conservatories

Last year, Zildjian Distributor in Armenia, Sarkis Kazanjian, asked if Zildjian could help out in sponsoring two Conservatories, located in Yerevan and Gyumri, with a donation of Zildjian Cymbals. Like Avedis Zildjian, Sarkis is of Armenian origin, and of course Zildjian was honored and delighted to be involved.

The Armenian First Lady, Rita Sargsyan, is very supportive of the benefits of playing music. Roughly ten years ago she introduced a Classical contest for young musicians. The last two events hosted 2,700 musicians during a period of two weeks, mostly from the CIS countries but also from EU, Japan, China, Spain, Italy, and South America.

Fast forward to 12 April 2014 - the official opening ceremony of the "Renaissance Festival”:

The ceremony was held at the Gyumri Concert Hall, with invited dignitaries including the Russian Consulate. Zildjian’s International Sales Manger, Yves Tieche was also invited to represent The Zildjian Company. Shortly before the ceremony began, the director of the Gyumri Conservatory surprised Yves, and had organized a special opening ceremony of their new Percussion Room - named "Zildjian".

Yves was honored to be asked to give several TV and Radio interviews, and spoke not only about Zildjian's history but also about music in general; the ‘most universal language’ of all.
