Zildjian is proud to have been associated with LIPA since it was officially opened by Her Majesty the Queen back in 1996. Co founded by its lead patron Sir Paul McCartney and Mark Featherstone Witty, (LIPA’s Principal), the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts is housed in Sir Paul’s old school that saw a Multi Million Pound renovation to transform it into a state of the art performing arts institution.
Each year a top graduating student from the percussion department is awarded an Avedis Zildjian Prize and has the opportunity to visit Zildjian’s UK Artist Centre in London, to personally select a cymbal of their choice.
Recent winners, Ross Higginson (2012) and David DAX Stobie (2013), teamed up and came down to make their prize winning selection. The two were mates while in school and decided to make the nearly four hour trip from Liverpool to London together. The Zildjian Artist Vault, housed at Cato Music Ltd, is a very special “Aladdin's cave” and holds a vast array of Zildjian Cymbals for Artists to try out.

The Zildjian Company would like to congratulate Ross and David, and wish them much luck in their future drumming careers. They are already off to a great start!
