Alex Bernath, born 1986 in Mannheim, Germany and currently residing in Cologne, is a touring and recording drummer specializing in styles ranging from Funk, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Fusion. Musicality and Groove are the two most important pillars he builds his drumming on. Fred Wesley (James Brown), Chuck Leavell (Rolling Stones) and Rodney “Skeet” Curtis (Parliament Funkadelic) are just a few artists Alex had the pleasure to be working with. Aside from independent drum jobs, Alex loves the work of being the Musical Director of “The Jamal Thomas Band” (Maceo Parker/SOS Band) and writing, recording and performing with the Polish guitar virtuoso “Wojtek Justyna Tree…Oh?!”
Robert Coleman (James Brown guitarist) stated once: “He is in the pocket and funky… if James Brown was here tonight, Alex would become his new drummer”.
