Alan Hall

Alan Hall

I started out playing boxes as my sister played tennis racquet while we "played" along with the radio for the kids on the block. I eventually turned in my boxes for real drums, and at 17 won the P.A.S. 8 Western States Drum Set competition. At this point, I was already a professional drummer in the San Francisco Bay Area. I headed out to Boston to go to Berklee College of Music and ended up teaching there from 1986 to 1993. While there I landed my lifetime endorsement deal with Zildjian Cymbals through Lenny DiMuzio and John DeChristopher. That was a great day.

Along the way, and to this day, I've had the good fortune of touring/gigging and/or recording with stellar artists and productions.

International jazz artists:

Art Lande, Ed Simon, Geoffrey Keezer, Lee Konitz, Paul McCandless, Kai Eckhardt, Paul Hanson, Rebecca Parris, and Kenny Washington.

Major Productions:

Productions: "Cirque Du Soliel", "Teatro Zinzanni", "Wicked" San Francisco

In 2015 I started composing for and my own jazz sextet, "Ratatet".

We've recorded 2 albums, "Arctic" and "Heroes Saints and Clowns", for Ridgeway Records. We've received grants for our recordings and have performed around the San Francisco bay area, including San Jose Jazz Summer Fest, Diablo Valley College and The California Jazz Conservatory.
