Claudio Infante was born in Rio de Janeiro .He started playing the drums and various percussion instruments when he was 7. At age 10, he was invited to join Claudio Nucci and Ze Renato in a tour to the United States and South America. He began his studies on theory at Villa Lobos Institute and later had private lessons with Bob Wyatt. He has already played with Leo Gandelman, Ivan Lins, Djavan, Lulu Santos, Ed Motta, Marisa Monte, B.B. King, Sheila E., Billy Cobham among others. In 1985, he signed with Warner to join Kid Abelha, remaining with the group till 1988.During this period, they received 3 gold records. In the last five years, Claudio has taken part in tourneas with Ney Matogrosso, Marisa Monte, Vercillo, Taryn and Simone, having performed around 700 shows. His vast experience in studio has brought him many invitations to produce the records of artists such as Cassio Tucunduva, Lila Shakti, Purushatraya Swami, Grupo Senzala and soundtracks for programs in the SPORTV channel, namely,Surf Adventures, 4X4,and œSecret Spots. Recently he has been involved in the divulgation of his third cd œPlay Along-Multimedia and also with his previous œInfante AND œTempo. He has been traveling around Brazil and abroad, and playing with Rita Lee. Claudio combines many activities: Besides being in Jorge Vercillos band , playing and participating on Taryn Szpilmans CDs and tours as a musical director, Rio Jazz Orchestras musical director, he also gives courses and workshops on drums and percussion throughout Brazil, South America and USA.
