Eastman School of Music (emeritus)

John H. Beck is a Professor Emeritus of Percussion at the Eastman School of Music where he taught from 1959-2008. He was the timpanist with the Rochester Philharmonic from 1962-2002 and has participated as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician in the United States, Europe, and China. Beck was inducted into the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) Hall of Fame in 1999. His Encyclopedia of Percussion is in its second edition and his book PERCUSSION MATTERS: Life at the Eastman School of Music was published in 2011. In 2018 Beck was inducted into the Rochester Music Hall of Fame.
